Sri Lanka trashes Pakistan by 25 runs

Sri Lanka won over Pakistan by 25 runs on Monday. Opener Upul Tharanga scored 77 while Lasith Malinga, fast bowler made 3 wickets to lead Sri Lanka’s win over Pakistan.

Jayawardene and Tharanga ensured that their team reached 235-7 at the second match to be played in Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

Shahid Afridi and Saeed Ajmal, Pakistani spinners finished with 2-35 and 3-61 respectively. Pacemen Dilhara Fernando scored 2-54, while Thisara Perera scored 2-30 while fielders from Sri Lanka also contributed 3 fine run outs.

Malinga in the first over made 2 wickets in capturing 3-31. The 19 year old Umar Akmal was the only batsman from Pakistan who scored over 30.

Pakistan’s chase was derailed quickly by Malinga who removed Younis Khan (0) and Mohammad Hafeez (4) by catches from Kumar Sangakkara.

Razzaq’s run out put Sri Lanka on top at the 27th over with 102-5. LBW victims were Sarfaz and Umar Gul. It was Afridi who gave his team a ray of hope with 29-14 balls and scoring a six and three fours.
