‘Obama’ Gets Mobile Phone Connection in India

Hyderabad: It may surprise you, but it’s true that the ‘US President Barack Obama’ has got a mobile phone connection in India.

According to the reports, a 21-year-old man used fake identity of Obama to get a brand new cell phone connection. Not only the name, but he provided the photo of the American president as his document.

The incident took place in Nalgonda, Andhra Pradesh, where a resident M Prasad secured a cellphone connection with the number 9177523297 by passing off the photograph of the US President as his, reported Times of India.

The local police is all set to take up the matter with the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India. Meanwhile, Obama’s Nalgonda mobile number has been disconnected by the cops.

TOI noted that to increase cell connections, the mobile network service providers have resorted to hiring third party sales personnel who are selling SIM cards in the cities, town and villages.

They don’t very the genuineness of the documents submitted as identity and residence proofs.

Police is investigating the matter.
