Karl Rove, George W. Bush’s Senior Adviser and chief political strategist divorced his wife of 24 years Darby last week in Texas. His spokeswoman said: Former Bush adviser’s split was decided ‘mutually and amicably’.

Rove married Darby Hickson, his second wife, a graphic artist, in 1986. His wife is a breast cancer survivor. They have one son, Andrew.

Rove had cited his commitment to his family as a major reason for his resignation from the post of Bush Senior Adviser in August 2007. Many in the media and the Beltway still think Rove was involved in the outing of CIA operative Valerie Plame.

News of the Rove split was first reported by POLITICO.
