CHENNAI: Defending champions Deccan Chargers roared to a comfortable 31-run victory against the Chennai Super Kings for their first win in two matches of the Indian Premier League Twenty20 cricket tournament at the MA Chidambaram Stadium here on Sunday.
The Deccan Chargers team is being led by former Australian player Adam Gilchrist. The team came back strongly after Friday’s defeat against Kolkata Knight Riders.
Chennai Super Kings only managed to score 159 for nine against Deccan Charger’s 190 for four.
Blazing knock from Adam Gilchrist and a fine all-round performance from Andrew Symonds helped the defending champions Deccan Chargers take charge of the proceedings.Gilchrist belted 38 off just 17 balls before Symonds cracked 50 from 43 balls to lift the Chargers to 4-190 from their 20 overs.
The Super Kings could only manage 9-159 in reply, with Symonds completing a fine all-rounder’s display by taking 2-29 from three overs.
