Johnson & Johnson is to recall Tylenol Extra Strength, Motrin, Rolaids to name a few.
It is the second time Johnson & Johnson has done so in less than a month – the first in the year 2010. Tylenol Arthritis was recalled in December 2009.
In December, a recall was issued after consumers complained of stomach problems from using Tylenol Arthritis Relief.
The recall may now be expanding.
Johnson & Johnson’s broadening recall now includes some batches of Tylenol caplets, geltabs, arthritis treatments, rapid release, and extended relief Tylenol, as well as Motrin IB, chewable extra strength Rolaids, Benadryl allergy tablets, and St. Joseph aspirin.
The latest recall applies to products sold in the United Arab Emirates and Fiji also.
Consumers have been complaining of “musty” odor with some of the over-the-counter medications such as Rolaids and Extra Strength Tylenol.
Johnson & Johnson says the smell is caused by small amounts of a chemical associated with the treatment of wooden pallets.
The company said it is working with the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
The FDA is said to have issued warnings, reports have emerged. The report is said to be dated January 8, 2010.
We are therefore now seeing another recall of Tylenol a products in the new year!
