MOONSHOT: Next Two Years of COVID-19 Pandemic

A “Mother Goose” philosophy of buy and sell will rise and replace the “Pied Piper” mantra to sell a refrigerator to an Eskimo

INSIGHT — The Coronavirus pandemic has changed things, just as the September 11, 2001 terrorists attack did two decades back. The pandemic however will change the world forever — we’re already witnessing some of these!

Welcome to the new normal.

Buyers’ market, not sellers, will eventually lead the curve. Hang in there.

The herd community of “influencers” will be replaced (faster than we expect) by “performers”, staying home, performing jobs or doing self-employment, freelancing online where quality, creativity and repeat client service will be the currency. Payment system will lead to digital. A “Mother Goose” philosophy of buy and sell will rise and replace the “Pied Piper” approach to sell a refrigerator to an Eskimo.

On economy level: agriculture (food), medicines (health), and essential services will take front seat. Marketing and business development will be digital and frontloaded with “needs and wants”, not “desires, greed and lust”.

Creativity, imagineering will sell. Rate dilution will dictate the new world order’s supply chain. Emerging nations and their home-based, home grown, cottage industries will tweet more and post more. Traditional media will be a thing of the past — a trend already visual.

Remember Grandma’s words?: Be natural, stay natural. Think straight. Don’t be greedy. etc. We expect to see introspection and chill with back to “earn money” mantra instead of “make money” narrative.

For the first time in decades millions of people will enter poverty and there would be no escape from it, says this video.

Covid-19 is not going to disappear, it will be around for at least 2 years, and a lot of people are scared for their health, for their wallets and their money.

Here are some forecasts (transcript edited for clarity):

  1. MONEY
There will be a lot less of it, so save it. Don’t spend money on anything you don’t need, don’t buy Starbucks coffee, don’t buy a car, don’t buy the stock market, its going to crash. Don’t even buy your favorite branded T-shirt or that extra suit you don’t need because weddings won’t be back for a while.
  2. JOBS
Many jobs are simply not coming back eg WAITERS, TOUR GUIDES, HOSPITALITY INDUSTRY. It’s gonna take at least 2 years to get the same number of jobs back. So in this free time you must spend it on education, get a skill that can make money fast. Businesses would be looking to hire people but people with internet skills, people who know how to edit videos, people who know how to run Facebook ads , build websites , create a sales funnel, people with an IT degree not a philosophy degree and these skills are going to be so much more important in the future.
  3. FREELANCE
With 20% unemployment in the US, it’s going to be a long way to get back to 5%. This is the time to create your own job, go online and teach the piano, go online and offer your design services, traditional city jobs are pretty much dead.
  4. MEDICINE
If you were not sure about studying medicine then this is the time to do it. Covid-19 taught us the world needs you. The doctor and the nurse. The world doesn’t need Gucci, and it doesn’t need all these travel “influencers”.
  5. PATIENCE
Once physical lockdown ends, a new one begins and this one is going to suck because it’s going to be for 2 years. For 2 years no more large gatherings, no more group tours, no more busy offices, no more full airplanes and no more money flying around, this is the time to think different.

Remember Grandma’s words albeit sustainable development goals (SDG).
