Bassem Yousef, an Egyptian-American comedian, television host, and surgeon at the India Today Conclave 2024 labelled Israel a “typical narcissist” –by skillfully blending comedy with poignant criticism, directing his ire at those who exploit novel justifications to perpetuate human suffering. In his speech, Yousef highlighted several examples as failed experiments from which the world should learn to prevent similar tragedies, such as the ongoing conflict in Palestine. The comedian demonstrated how satire can be used to take apart the Benjamin Natanyahu government’s “propaganda” to justify its military actions in Gaza.
